Historic Buildings
Our project is multigenerational. Connecting young people, and the local community to heritage and history that is in danger of being lost over time. We have a 200+ yr old building with indoor murals painted over multiple generations, we aim to restore these and to bring the local heritage of the building and surrounding area to future generations by researching the history and creating an outdoor mural to continue a legacy and preserve the local heritage. This project involves young people learning research and art skills (both restoration and creation), meeting elderly residents, collecting information, researching in the archives and creating a wall art and legacy video of the project while maintaining and restoring the pre-existing murals and creating an outdoor one, all to mark 30 years since the building was bought, and put into a community trust deed as a community asset which benefits the entire local community.
