Historic Buildings
Our vision is for our Grade 1 listed Kendal Parish Church to be a place maker: as part of the cultural and heritage quarter that marks the southern entrance to the town, and as a gateway into the southern Lake District. Our project will celebrate one thousand years of shared history between church and town, reinforcing their inter- connectivity and making this largely untold story accessible to the community and visitors. In conserving our tower and chapel roof, and opening up and levelling out our outer aisles for interpretation and community activities, we want to ensure universal access to our saved heritage; strengthen social and cultural identity; make Kendal and the outlying area an even better place to live, work and thrive; strengthen this conservation area as a heritage and cultural quarter; boost the town’s tourist economy; and provide a sustainable future for Kendal Parish Church.
