North Northamptonshire Council aims to secure a resilient and sustainable future for Kettering Museum (Manor House Museum), a much-loved Grade II* listed heritage site sadly closed since 2020. This project will appoint a dedicated Collections Manager to undertake essential work with the museum’s collection, supporting its care, documentation and accessibility while leading the newly funded external storage relocation project. Alongside this, a comprehensive Masterplan will review every aspect of the museum’s future, including the collection, building spaces, accessibility, interpretation, town-centre location, audience needs and financial sustainability. This work will determine what is required to reopen the museum, what stories we wish to tell and how to deliver them in an inclusive, inspiring, and viable way. Together, these strands will provide the foundation for the museum’s revival, safeguarding its historic collections while strengthening its role as a vibrant, community-focused and sustainable cultural asset for Kettering and the wider region.
