We will develop the strategic foundations for a resilient, inclusive, and future-focused heritage offer at the Lakeland Museum and Abbot Hall site, Kendal. Through a structured process of planning, consultation, and evaluation, we will create a comprehensive plan that ensures the long-term impact and care of our heritage assets. The project will centre on three interlinked workstreams: Digital & Technology – creating a new strategy that streamlines operations and creates opportunities for engagement; Capital – creating a Master Plan, Feasibility Study and Options Appraisal for the site, collections and existing buildings. Environmental Sustainability – developing an organisational plan that supports our Net Zero ambitions by identifying opportunities for sustainable technologies, buildings and operations, reducing our carbon footprint and supporting the local ecology. This work will redefine the role of our museum and gallery in a changing cultural landscape; strengthening partnerships, rebuilding trust, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
