Museums And Archives
Queer Kernow would like to further expand on our pilot project with NHLF (‘A Queer Cornish Collection’). We want to activate local archives, our own collections, and community-held collections to empower Cornish LGBTQ+ communities and shine a light on their hidden history. We will host Collections Days in different geographic areas of Cornwall to connect with local LGBTQ+ community members and undertake oral history collecting. We will partner with Kresen Kernow and other heritage organisations in Cornwall to deposit LGBTQ+ items in their collections. This will achieve a better representation of queer lives in Cornish history and make the LGBTQ+ community feel included within the strong sense of identity that Cornwall holds. We will digitise our own collection and develop our online map to enable greater access to the research. This project will also help Queer Kernow to develop as an organisation through mentoring and training.
