Museums And Archives
This project is dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history of Londonderry YMCA while inspiring future generations. We will establish a secure archive to protect over 165 years of historical artifacts, focusing initially on the 40-year history at our Drumahoe site. This archive will support the creation of engaging resources, including digitised records, interactive exhibits, and a visual timeline to showcase our heritage and stimulate community appreciation for local history. A heritage committee, comprising current and past members and youth club participants, will lead the project, receiving training to develop these resources and gain valuable skills. A reunion event will reconnect past and present members, celebrating shared memories and strengthening bonds. By promoting intergenerational collaboration and educational opportunities, this project will safeguard our past while building pride and identity, ensuring Londonderry YMCA’s legacy continues to inspire and enrich the community for generations to come.
