Restoring Gwesty Y Twr – Preserving Heritage, Strengthening Community Gwesty Y Twr, a Grade II-listed landmark, is at the heart of Pwllheli’s history. Following a hugely successful community share offer that raised £400,000 from over 1,000 local investors, the building was secured under community ownership. However, the building is in poor condition and requires significant restoration to ensure its structural safety, enhance accessibility, and create a sustainable future. This project will transform Gwesty Y Twr into a community-led hub, safeguarding heritage while providing cultural, social, and economic opportunities. The Gwesty Y Twr project presents a unique opportunity to preserve an important heritage site while delivering lasting benefits for the community. By restoring this landmark, creating spaces for cultural activities, and embedding sustainability into its future use, the project will breathe new life into Pwllheli’s town centre. Through community ownership and active participation, Gwesty Y Twr will become a space where history, culture, and community come together, ensuring that its legacy endures for generations to come. With support from the NLHF, this project will protect a vital piece of Welsh heritage while creating a dynamic, inclusive, and sustainable community hub.
