Merlons and Lady Chapel Roof Repairs with digital records and guide for the church.

High level works to the Grade 1 listed C14 church of St Michael and All Angels, Hathersage. This is located in the Peak District National Park and attracts countless visitors throughout the year. We are open daily and there is no admission charge. There are failing Merlons which are in danger of slipping. Repairs to these are straightforward but require scaffold. It is sensible to use the scaffold for other high level repairs. The key one of these, currently identified, is the lady chapel roof which requires recovering. This will be done at the same time, with the opportunity being used to install insulation which will have the effect of reducing heat loss. This is a cost effective commencement on the carbon reduction journey. We want to increase visitor and community knowledge of the building by exploring the what and why of the main features - inside and out.
