Museums And Archives
In preparation for the Migration Museum’s move to our new permanent home in 2027 and the development of our larger project proposal, we are requesting funding for a 12-month intensive project-planning research grant which will specifically focus on ensuring that the heritage surrounding migration that underpins all of our future activities will incorporate heritage that is highly valued by the public, at-risk, under-explored and drawn from across the UK. By the end of this project we hope to have: a better understanding of relevant collections and materials, including those that are underused or forgotten; strengthened partnerships with national and regional heritage organisations; a prototype model of our dispersed Migration Collection; clear organisational framework for best-practice around physical and digital collections management; and a clear understanding of existing and target audiences and their needs and interests, which are fully considered and included in decision making from the outset.
