Historic Buildings
We want to see our beautiful Grade I listed church in good condition so it can continue as an important community asset for Somerton Village. St Margaret’s is a highly valued community centre for local people, being the only meeting space in the village. However, this much-loved building is deteriorating in condition. We have increasing loose and falling tiles which is causing water ingress and internal damage. To address this and made the building weatherproof we need a new peg tile roof with modern weatherproof technology. We also want to increase awareness and understanding of St Margaret’s history. The project will create new opportunities for people to visit the church and engage with heritage and celebrate local life together through coming to St Margaret’s.
