We will preserve and transform access to the Piccadilly Radio archive, making sure that it remains accessible in digital form at Manchester Central Library. We will make the collection discoverable by training volunteers to improve finding aids. We will make the collection browsable for new audiences by curating Piccadilly Radio clips and ephemera at the MDMAarchive and commissioning introductory podcasts. We will capture the stories of those who made and listened to the station before it is too late. We will also facilitate new ways of interacting with the archive for younger people and older people who do not use the library service, who will spend time with the collection and produce their own audio responses to it, while learning new skills and confidence. Finally we will celebrate the archive by hosting a six-month exhibition at Manchester Central Library which will draw all the project’s strands together.
