NT Project 2025
Set within the atmospheric Ironbridge Gorge in Shropshire, are a collection of museums, historic sites and structures owned and operated by the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust (IGMT). The birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, this World Heritage Site is an internationally significant and locally loved place that celebrates industrial heritage. Increasing financial pressures means that the National Trust (NT) are in discussions about acquiring IGMT’s assets and taking over the operational management of their sites. This would safeguard IGMT’s built heritage and stories of the Industrial Revolution for future generations to enjoy. The NT now needs to complete a feasibility study and due diligence around the asset transfer to prepare a comprehensive business case and operating model. We are seeking support from the Heritage Fund towards this process, which will run from April to September 2025.
