Oswaldtwistle Mills Education and Heritage Project

There is an urgent need to save the private collection at Oswaldtwistle Mill, which tells the story of the mill and its people. We have gained support from nine local primary schools, a local Asian women's charity, and we have a dedicated group of volunteers ready to serve on a steering committee. Over the next 15 months, our goal is to re-open the Heritage Centre, collaborate with the steering committee and a local primary school that has agreed to help us develop an educational program aligned with the current curriculum for Years 1 & 2. We will work closely with the school to create a customised modern education pack that they can incorporate into their studies, which will then be made accessible to the other primary schools within walking distance. The collection will also include the stories of the Asian community linked to the mill, currently missing from the collection.
