Historic Buildings
In June 2021 the iconic Crannog set on Loch Tay was destroyed by fire. The support from the public who raised 120k through just giving, funders and Scottish Government has been humbling. By March 31st 2024 less than three years after the fire we had created a plan, raised 4.3 million, moved site and built a new museum and Iron Age Village. In Sept 2024 we have begun to rebuild the crannog itself . This funding will enable The crannog to be completed. Grow the skills needed to look after the build. Grow the traditional skills community. Employing specialist Scottish based craft people. Create a special place that means so much to the diverse communities we are here to serve. Have diverse volunteers working on the project. Strengthen the financial resilience of the organisation through increased visitors. Support local suppliers of timber and RSPB through buying reed from The Tay.
