Historic Buildings
Through this project we want to engage and expose the local community, and especially people either not currently engaged with heritage or areas under-represented in our (the Craigavon Historical Society) current membership, with the landscape heritage that surrounds them, whether it be the archaeology hidden beneath the ground, overlooked monuments in the landscape, or the legendary stories set in the area. To achieve this we will organise a community archaeology dig at Kilmocholmóg, an intergenerational local history schools programme, talks, tours and workshops. The project’s timing will allow us to captilise on the current enthusiasm, interest and momentum engendered throughout the local area by our previous NLHF project (Ref: NM-22-01076). By the project’s end the CHS will be strengthened through increased awareness, membership and the forging of new partnership links; while heritage within the locality will be safeguarded through increased knowledge and interest generated during our project.
