Preston Caribbean Carnival: Jubilee Archive

Preston Caribbean Carnival is 50 years old, this 9-month long research and development programme will develop a new ‘Jubilee Archive’, to collect, preserve and share the story of Preston Caribbean Carnival for Preston and Lancashire. The project is led by Preston Caribbean Carnival charity (PCC) with support from Friends of Lancashire Archives. It will achieve four core aims: AIM1: will develop PCC committee’s capacity to collect and deliver heritage activity through training. Plus strengthen our partner and volunteer delivery base and experience. AIM 2: will develop a new Preston Caribbean Carnival archive beginning with collecting and conserving 50 years of heritage costumes and stories. AIM 3: will engage 60 young people and elders in carnival dance and visual heritage through carnival skills workshops. AIM 4: will share the heritage story to over 45,000 people digitally and in person, exploring radio, online, through exhibition and popup displays at carnival events.
