Project Inspire

We want to restore and re-order St Lawrence Church Lechlade to preserve its heritage and improve its accessibility, facilities, flexibility and eco footprint for its currently growing community and for future generations. We wish to incorporate all the facilities expected in a building regularly accomodating large numbers of people. Restoration: to the roof, walls, floor and doors. Both the floor, and the entrance via the north porch, would return the church to original states: the floor would be level across the whole church, improving accessibility and allowing for services including heating to be underneath. Re-ordering: a gallery to be installed where one was before the Victorian re-ordering, to provide extra seating, a meeting room and an office above, and toilets (including disabled), kitchen and multi-purpose room below. Pews replaced by stackable seats to improve flexibility and comfort. New electric heating, and efficient lighting (with solar panels) to become net zero.
