Historic Buildings

#PW ChurchCare Conservation Grants Programme

To raise awareness of the nation’s churches and their history, all open, in use, cared for, and free to visit; each with its own unique story to tell. We want to enhance our grant-giving, relieving volunteer stewards of the burden of maintaining historic churches by bringing projects to fruition. We are well placed to address the national need for heritage craft skills, and raise awareness of accreditation and training. Working with colleagues in national bodies such as Historic England, Icon, and HEF, we understand the challenges facing the heritage sector. By raising standards of conservation within churches we can increase the demand for skilled practitioners. Training programmes will contribute to the formation of a workforce in conservation skills. Additional funding for engagement and interpretation will spark renewed interest for the wider community. Improving the condition of our buildings will support and celebrate a national collection that is free to all.
