Re-imagining Boathouse 6: the new Dockyard home of the Royal Marines Experience Museum, Special Exhibitions Gallery and programming

The 1840s Grade II* Boathouse 6 will be reimagined as home for: the Royal Marines Experience Museum (1100m2), a Special Exhibition Gallery (400m2), a family-focused Marines-themed Laser Quest Arena, and a dual-use Public Programming and Conference Facility (300m2) linked to the existing 275-seat auditorium. Capital works will transform environmental performance, accessibility, facilities, and visitor flow to support multiple uses and activity. Responding to audience research, we will create immersive, experiential exhibitions where objects and stories are physically and virtually displayed, and where new narratives are uncovered. Our team, our partnerships, our AI-supported digital repository, apps, digital programming and social content will extend the project far beyond the Dockyard paywall. New ticket sales will generate gross revenue of £2.517M for Dockyard partners over three years. Heritage will become more accessible, relevant, and valued; visitor and commercial income will grow, improving organisational sustainability and increasing economic impact, of NMRN and the Dockyard.
