Reconnecting Scotney

Scotney, a me dieval moated castle, mansion and gardens, surrounded by a 780-acre parkland, and hosting one of the UK's best examples of a ‘Picturesque’ landscape, is currently inaccessible, undervalued and not serving its Tunbridge Wells community. Reconnecting Scotney will: • Improve access to local heritage and green space for those with physical and sensory needs through tactile interpretation, improved paths and a new changing place facility. • Preserve significant features of the Grade 1 listed landscape that are at risk of collapse. • Protect the environment by creating a 0.6 acre orchard, climate resilient planting and ‘Garden Guardians’, a schools environmental ambassadors programme. • Diversify its audiences by delivering meaningful experiences to address social need, such as ‘Blossom and Breathe: Garden Wellness’ for those experiencing bereavement and loneliness. • Strengthen organisational sustainability by improving the visitor experience through a new welcome hub and play area. One holistic project, three connected solutions: heritage, infrastructure, and community.
