Museums And Archives
Through Reducing the Risk: Hazards in Collections we will empower 48 museums across the South West of England to tackle the pressing issue of hazardous objects in their collections and create resources and case studies which will be shared on our website. This project will enable museums to identify, record, and make safe objects containing the most frequently occurring hazards. The project will train 7 conservators who will train, lead and support the museums. Kits and materials will be supplied to each museum and a range of appropriate specialist equipment made available to them on loan. An informative but friendly animation will provide a confidence-building introduction. A final event will celebrate the achievements of the museums and launch the resources on our website, The project will be evaluated throughout to measure the impact of the project, its efficacy, and the effect of the work itself on the museums.
