Reimagining Bridport Museum for its Centenary

Bridport Museum Trust has been offered a unique opportunity to acquire and save for the community a landmark building, the Grade II* Bridport Literary and Scientific Institute (LSI). This potentially transformational offer from the Bridport Area Development Trust presents the Museum with the chance to marry its three key strategic objectives as it approaches its Centenary in 2032: to develop a sustainable operating model; to secure a fit for purpose collection store; and to ensure we have a refreshed and relevant proposition for the future. The legacy of the project will be greater organisational resilience through creating a business plan that draws on engagement with our communities. The related collections development will revitalise our relevance and deepen our connection with audiences as we approach our Centenary. In addition, if due diligence supports taking on the LSI building, this would address collection storage and safeguard the LSI for the community.
