Historic Buildings
The beautiful Victorian interior of St Giles’ in Cambridge welcomes secular, religious and student communities, locals and tourists. We want its spaciousness to continue to be available for visitors and events, with its outstanding acoustics for concerts, and its fascinating Grade II* history with unique stained glass. The building is threatened by damp, with the gutters needing urgent repair from scaffolding near Victorian windows that also need renovating. This work will allow heritage space to remain in continuous use and appreciation by future generations. New and accessible digital applications will tempt past its walls to serve more visitors as well as its millennium of ever increasing town and gown. In this way, St Giles' can become even more hospitable and enjoyable within its delightful churchyard in a busy city centre, always open in the daytime to everyone.
