Renovation of Ruskington Cemetery Lychgate.

Ruskington Parish Council aims to save the heritage of its lychgate at the entrance to Sleaford Road cemetery in Ruskington. It will achieve this by contracting a local business who specialises in heritage and conservation joinery to undertake sensitive conservation, repair, and renovation, reusing as many of the original materials as possible. The lychgate was erected in 1901 by a local family (the Pattison family) to commemorate the death of Queen Victoria. With renovation, the lychgate, which is a well-known heritage feature in the village, will provide an attractive, safe, and accessible entrance to the cemetery for mourners, funeral directors, and other visitors, and will also continue to provide a visual frame for the war memorial when entering the cemetery. An achievement of the project will be the continuation of the legacy of this historic feature of both the cemetery and the village, and its links to a local family.
