Secure a sustainable future for Govan Old, having rescued it from closure in 2016, and increase public access to its heritage, by creating a: 1) visitor centre 2) accessible museum for learning 3) community hub offering facilities to let 4) business space generating income to cover running costs The proposal has two elements: construction of an extension to provide visitor facilities enabling Govan Old to function legally as a public venue; a high-profile campaign to promote heritage through activities, led by Glasgow University in 2025 and 2026. We propose increasing total people using Govan Old from 2,000 to 4,000 pa, by doubling – user groups, school visits & lettings to outside bodies; tripling one-off events; increasing volunteers by 50%. Our fieldwork proposal will introduce 2,000 new people to heritage. Finally, from a baseline 14,000, we plan to increase general museum visitors in 3 years by 25%, 50% and 75% consecutively.
