Historic Buildings
Our project aims to preserve the heritage that our Grade 1 listed Church and churchyard symbolise and create an opportunity for the community to learn more about the history of the building and the surrounding area, and enjoy the natural environment we are lucky enough to be part of. St Michael and All Angels Church in Kniveton has been at the heart of our community since the 12th century and urgent repairs are needed to the stonework on the east wall, and around the east and north windows. We believe this is an excellent opportunity to engage with the local community and provide more detail on the church’s history, through open days and talks, and through the creation of lasting information resources. Building on the Church’s heritage and continuing our EcoChurch journey, we will also develop our churchyard to encourage greater biodiversity and welcome more visitors to enjoy the space.
