Historic Buildings

Restoration and heritage re-interpretation of St Mawgan-in-Pydar church for community and visitors

We want the building repaired and water ingress eliminated. We want it sustainable for the future and heated with a lower carbon footprint. Our ambition is to make the interpretation inspiring, joined up and engaging, inviting people to connect with it and become curious. We want our local community, including children at the school and pre-school, to want to be in the building, deepen their understanding of our heritage and be engaged in supporting it. We want more visitors, on-site and online, to be fascinated and for pilgrims to feel linked with our story. We want to increase accessibility and inclusion with: • the building being equally available to wheelchair users and others who can’t cope with steps • heritage interpretation being accessible in various ways • improvements made for visually impaired and neuro-diverse users • online material for those who can’t physically come or need careful preparation before visiting.
