Historic Buildings
The aim of our project is the essential conservation and restoration of the historic bells at Penshurst Church. This will include fitting new headstocks so the bells can be rotated and maintained and tuning the bells to the designated, and listed, 5th bell which dates from 1370. The planned investment can be expected to result in several hundred more years of useful life from the bells and so leaves a lasting and sustainable legacy for the future, benefiting both the community and the environment. Bell ringing, and an ongoing contribution to the cultural legacy of full circle ringing, will be ensured and an important ancient heritage asset will be preserved.
