Restoration of the 13th century Choir of Dunkeld Cathedral

Through repair, restoration and development, this project will ensure that the 13th century Choir of Dunkeld Cathedral is preserved for generations to come. We aim to ensure that the building can continue to be safely accessed and used by the local congregation and community, and the many national and international visitors who come to Dunkeld every year. By improving the interpretation information available, the visitor experience will be enhanced and the story of the Cathedral’s place in the history of Scotland will be better understood, resulting in visitors spending longer at the site which in turn will benefit the local economy. Improving the current heating and lighting systems to be more environmentally sustainable, and upgrading the audio/visual services will allow the building to be used year-round both as a place of worship and as a venue for concerts and events.
