Restore and Renew Elmley Castle Bell Restoration Project Cantate Domino Canticum Novum (Sing Unto The Lord A new Song)

Our organisation's aims are to preserve renew and restore the Church Bells of Elmley Castle. Presently our bells are very difficult to ring due to unsafe and worn out equipment. The bells are out of tune and can no longer be re-tuned. Preserving four of our old bells, the oldest dating from 1420, and keeping two good tuneable bells, the new ring will have three new bells cast to make a tuneful and easy to ring peal of bells. Elmley Castle's bell frame is now 146 years old and made of oak. This frame and the primary beams that support this structure has weakened significantly and must be replaced. Our plan is to replace this with modern steel supports and cast iron frames for the new bells to swing in ensuring a long life. This work will ensure our bells can be rung by people of all ages and abilities.
