Historic Buildings
This project aims to transform a disused yet historically significant Victorian railway station into a vibrant, accessible community facility for Gedling. The initiative will serve local residents, preserve the heritage of the building and enhance the social fabric of the area. We will work with local specialist contractors to deliver a programme of major capital works, including full re-roofing of the building and retrofit measures to reduce energy consumption. Our contactors will be committed to teaching heritage sector skills to their workforce. The station will be transformed into a multi-generational community hub with an onsite café, social spaces, office space for small businesses and sensory gardens. It will offer an insight into Britain’s industrial and economic past, enriching the local area through events that also aim to improve health and social engagement. Our ultimate goal is to honour the station's historic legacy and secure its future in the community.
