Restoring Lincoln’s Hidden Greek Orthodox Heritage: Urgent Roof Repairs, Community Access & Bilingual Engagement

Through this project, we aim to secure the long-term future of the Grade II listed church as a safe, resilient and welcoming community asset of considerable heritage value. By repairing the ailing roof, tower and north aisle, the project will stabilise the building, stop water ingress and prevent further deterioration, enabling the church to remain in active use as a valuable heritage asset. The project will also strengthen the church’s role at the heart of the community by providing five engagement activities that encourage participation, learning and volunteering. Training and involvement opportunities will build local skills, confidence and capacity to care for the building in the future. Inclusive and bilingual approaches will widen access to (and understanding about) the church and the building. Overall, we’re aiming to move the church away from repeated emergency repairs towards a sustainable model of stewardship, safeguarding its heritage significance while supporting long-term community benefit.
