Historic Buildings
Make Southwest will carry out urgent works to the Grade II listed Riverside Mill in Bovey Tracey. The works will make the building watertight, warmer and address damp penetration, improving the condition of the building and preventing more extensive and costly future works. Working with fundraising, evaluation and research consultants, we will improve the organisational resilience of Make Southwest enabling us to continue to champion crafts in southwest England. Research into the mill’s history will help us to better understand its significance. Nature focused activities and an information board will inform and engage visitors and local people with the natural environment and species that use the mill building including nesting swifts and roosting bats. In 2025 we will celebrate 70 years of Make Southwest, so it is timely for us to understand and address our archives’ needs in advance of this anniversary.
