‘Ringing Through Time’ Restoring the historic legacy of the Church of Our Lady

The Grade I Listed Church of Our Lady has served the community for 900 years but now requires urgent repairs to secure its future. It is hoped this project will help towards eventual removal of the church from the Heritage at Risk Register through a programme of capital works, including repointing and making the building watertight to protect against future storms. It will reconnect people in surrounding villages with the church and provide Delaval Hall visitors with a deeper understanding of the heritage context. New audiences will be targeted and barriers to visiting removed through bespoke, targeted activities. As an independent volunteer-led organisation, the project will upskill the Friends of Our Lady, providing training to maintain organisational sustainability. The project will allow the church to continue to be a resource for the community for generations to come, with the restored historic bell ringing once again to draw the community together.
