Roman Legacy

The project goal is to engage our young people and wider audience with their local heritage and to recognise, commemorate, and celebrate the impact the Romans have had in Cumbernauld and their presence in Scotland during the second century AD. The heritage focus of our project is the Antonine Wall and its associated Bar Hill fort, which is situated a few miles from GHS between Twechar and Croy. A UNESCO world heritage site of great historical and cultural significance, the Antonine Wall is a physical reminder of the Roman legacy in Scotland and our main aim is to make our young people more aware of their heritage and motivate them to learn about this special archaeological site and the people who created and dwelt along the length of it. We would like our project to be fun and inclusive, and for it to spark a life-long interest in heritage.
