Saving St Mary’s Church

We want to ensure that St Mary’s Church can continue to play an active role at the heart of the Glemsford village community. This project will tackle urgent repairs to the building, stopping further deterioration and putting the church into a stable, weather-tight condition. The repairs include the bell tower, helping to protect the bells and support the future of the much-loved tradition of bell ringing in Glemsford. Alongside the repair work, we also want to increase visitors and for more people to feel welcome, involved and connected to the church. New activities with schools, local groups and volunteers will create opportunities for people to better explore our building’s history, and the stories associated with it. As well restoring the building we will help people engage with our natural surroundings in accessible and enjoyable ways.
