Historic Buildings

Securing the Future of Sandys Row Synagogue

Our vision is to secure a sustainable future for Sandys Row Synagogue by setting out a plan to safeguard the building and strengthen its role as a living place of worship, while offering heritage, cultural and educational engagement. The project responds to urgent risks to historic fabric, alongside the pressing need to build organisational capacity and resilience within a small volunteer-led community. Through targeted repairs, commissioning a Condition Survey and Statement of Heritage Significance, and specialist advice, the project will establish a robust evidence base to guide future conservation and development. In parallel, we will invest in governance, business planning and partnerships to support long-term sustainability and cultural/educational programming. The legacy will be a costed, credible and inclusive roadmap for repair, access and use, informed by consultation and pilot activity, and supported by a fundraising strategy - positioning Sandys Row Synagogue as active, valued and accessible for generations to come.
