Historic Buildings
Our project seeks to achieve lasting transformation of St Mary the Virgin Church, preserving and honouring its historic features to secure its heritage and make it a landmark attraction for visitors, as well as creating an accessible, flexible space for local people to cherish and enjoy. We will: • Repair the dilapidated, leaking roof to protect the stunning Grade 1 Listed church, preserving it for future generations. • Improve accessibility, bringing heritage to the people by creating a welcoming, inclusive and informative space for worship, exhibitions and workshops. • Create new learning experiences for people to engage with the history of the church, heritage skills, and the stunning Constable-country setting. Through the project we will endeavour to preserve and share the rich history of the church and the treasured local area, providing engaging educational spaces and activities that increase the physical and financial sustainability of this special place, safeguarding it into the future.
