Historic Buildings

Seed to Fork

Our vision is to engage young people with their local historic and natural environment to encourage learning and mental & physical wellbeing. This project develops NLHF-funded activity to create a Schools Programme and open up new areas of our Grade 1 listed site to: - increase young people’s curiosity about and engagement with their local natural and historic environment; - provide opportunities to connect with important heritage spaces, including their role in food production, past and present; - improve wellbeing by connecting with nature through hands-on horticultural activities in a heritage greenspace. Legacy - More young people from underrepresented backgrounds developing a sense of ownership of their local heritage environment, to revisit with their families; - Creation of new income streams to support organisational sustainability; - Detailed plans and successful fundraising for the rescue and transformation of an abandoned 17th Century walled garden for the benefit of the local community.
