Historic Buildings

Shared Heritage Futures: An All-Ireland Skills Project

This project is a cross-border partnership between five not-for-profit organisations in GB, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, which aims to forward a shared approach to training in and promotion of heritage skills to benefit people and places on the island. This project builds on the All-Ireland Heritage Skills Programme (Consolidating Heritage Skills) project submitted to The Heritage Fund in January 2025, and applies learnings from this and previous interventions by project partners. The purpose of this project is to increase awareness and availability of heritage skills, to allow a more diverse range of participants, attract new entrants and provide a pipeline of candidates for future years of the training programme. This will be achieved through a four stranded approach, industry upskilling, new industry engagement, public engagement and sectoral sustainability. This will support intangible heritage and ensure that craft skills are available to care for our historic built environment.
