Sir Joseph Bazalgette & the Great Stink of London

Habitats & Heritage want to conserve the Grade II listed mausoleum of Sir Joseph Bazalgette in Wimbledon and to remove it from the Historic England at-risk register. We want to improve the condition of the built heritage, educate people about past engineering achievements which improved human health, tell the story of London's water supply and waste water management system, and relate past water pollution problems to the London of today. The project will strive to make people better aware about water resource management and to help them understand the impact every person plays in the demands for water consumption and the contribution to river pollution. This project will also expand the capacity of a small charity which looks to remove further historic buildings off the at-risk register in the future.
