Historic Buildings
The main project will be to preserve, maintain and raise awareness of the historic heritage of St Peters Church. This will include repairs to ensure the life of the church's iconic spire. The project will explore making the building as environmentally sustainable as possible and to preserve the ecology of the churchyard including its ancient trees. It will improve access of the building and churchyard and develop links with local education providers and other local historic sites. This application is the first stage and will undertake work to produce the reports and costing for the main project. A community consultation event will be undertaken and initial involvement of education providers, ie the two schools in the village, instigated. Alongside the planned arboricultural survey one tree at risk of falling and potentially crushing an ancient Yew, may need to be felled following expert advice, to preserve the Yew and community safety.
