Historic Buildings
Our vision is to safeguard the heritage of St James Church, Welland, while ensuring it remains a thriving community hub for the next generation. We will address urgent external repairs, refurbish the 1897 Jubilee clock adding an auto-winder and regulator, and restore the rare Vowles organ. At the same time, we will install a sustainable infrared heating system with upgraded electrical supply and introduce an audio guide to explain the heritage within in the church. The project’s legacy will be a well-maintained and eco-friendly Grade II-listed church where heritage is secure and fully accessible. Worship will continue regularly, children from the local schools will continue to visit, residents will enjoy the café, cinema and larder, and concerts will showcase the restored organ. By combining heritage preservation with practical improvements, the church will be future-proofed as both a historic landmark and a vibrant centre of community life.
