Historic Buildings
Through this project, the PCC of St John of Jerusalem, South Hackney, seeks to secure the long-term future of its Grade II*, Victorian church. We will strategically plan a major capital project, building on “Jerusalem Renewed”, and facilitating the repair and conservation of our historic church. Although no longer “Heritage at Risk”, historic fabric, especially stonework, remains vulnerable. By preparing a Business Plan, informed by local need, organisational resilience will be strengthened, and the pathway to securing sustainability identified. Other critical pieces of work, needed to establish the foundations of a viable, capital project, will also be delivered, including a Net Zero Feasibility Study. Access will be enhanced through the construction of graded access at the main entrance, and the delivery of heritage-led, community-focussed activities. A small package of essential roof works will be delivered; and the PCC and wider parish will benefit from the SPAB’s Maintenance training.
