St Matthew Church Darley Abbey, Derby serves the village on the north side of Derby .The church building,consecrated in 1819 and Grade 11 Listed with Historic England No 1215814, is of great historical significance on it's own account and as part of the village heritage.It is highly valued by the local community.In addition to Sunday worship and the Occasional Offices of Weddings Baptisms and Funerals the church is an open church and well used by individuals for prayer and reflection,by visitors and tourists, by two local schools and a wide range of community groups throughout the week. The objective of this project is to restore and preserve decorative stonework on the church tower, ensuring that the church building remains safe in order to preserve it's own history and heritage and it's place in the village's history and heritage and to allow continued use for worship and for community access.
