Historic Buildings
The project has 3 main purposes. The first is to make the listed church a more comfortable and usable space for community and religious purposes. It currently lacks toilets or kitchen facilities and is very cold in the winter. The project will provide enhanced heating and a disabled toilet, a new internal porch, and a kitchenette. The second is to gather, present and preserve information about the social history of the church and how this has changed as the community of Fulford has grown from a village into a large suburb. Photographs, programmes and other documents about past events will be sought and placed in a permanent digital archive. Also oral histories will be taken, including from recent refugee arrivals. The third purpose is to inform and educate the wider community about the heritage of the church -both physical and non-physical- through a series of events, publications and digital material.
