St Sampson's Unlocked: The Roof Over Our Heads

Project aims Saving the church as a centre of worship, heritage and community activity, ensuring a sustainable and resilient future by •Repairing the roof and ceiling of the nave and north transept •Restoring the ancient bells and rehanging them in the church tower •Engaging new audiences in learning about and valuing the church and associated community heritage Project legacy •Major progress towards removing the church from the At Risk register •Preservation of internal heritage •A safer, warmer & drier building •Confidence that the building envelope is sufficiently watertight to enable us to proceed with planned projects to install accessible WC & kitchen facilities and raise funds for the remaining roof and ceiling repairs •Hearing the church bells ring out once again across the community they were made to serve •Strengthened knowledge of the church’s heritage and community story for future generations •Increased access to the building, more events, increased participation
