Stanley Halls: celebrating William F Stanley's life & legacy on his 200th birthday

Through the project we want to celebrate the bicentenary of the birth of William Stanley, the philanthropic industrialist designer and funder of Stanley Halls by: protecting the unique and idiosyncratic Stanley Halls from structural damage and water penetration and conserve & reveal the beauty of its fine decorative scheme removing a threat to the building's sustainability by upgrading its electrical system making the building's operations carbon-neutral by installing air source heat pumps making the building more inclusive with physical and sensory access improvements involving the community in the heritage of Stanley Halls by co-creating and delivering a three year programme of heritage activities with target groups including Black communities, older people, learning disabled adults and looked-after children
