Stones Methodist Church, (Rochdale Road, Ripponden, Sowerby Bridge HX6 4AL) is a vital hub in the village of Ripponden. Over 250 people of all ages use the building each week. Community engagement has confirmed the importance of the premises. The refurbishment will enable an increase in community and church activities, allowing our village's heritage to survive and our future to thrive. This particular application will underpin the sustainability of our church in terms of increasing the number of people using the building. The introduction of solar panels, battery storage and secondary glazing will make the use of the Stones premises more sustainable, bringing about a reduction in our carbon footprint and energy costs. It will also fund 100 chairs, to replace fixed pews, which will provide a fully flexible space on the ground floor which can be used 7 days a week (just 1 or 2 days at present).
