Stories, Spaces and Shared Heritage: Planning the Future of Bungay Town Hall

Bungay Town Council will safeguard and revitalise Bungay Town Hall as an accessible, inclusive and sustainable civic and heritage town centre hub. This project will develop a clear, evidence-based plan for the conservation, repair and long-term use of this Grade II-listed building, addressing accessibility barriers and ensuring heritage and museum collections are shared with the community. There will be two complementary strands of work. An architectural feasibility study and condition survey will assess the building’s physical potential, exploring how accessibility improvements, repairs and spatial changes could be achieved within the constraints of the historic fabric. In parallel, an options appraisal and business case will examine how the building’s spaces could best be used in the future. Consultation with residents and partner organisations will shape these plans, supported by engagement activities and pilot events to test ideas, so the building serves as a civic space, heritage destination and shared community resource.
